Today’s doctor’s visit told us that things were finally progressing, but not likely to have a child by the weekend. Monday morning we are going to be induced. Should make for a long weekend and few days. But, I can’t wait to show off my little guy to the world sometime early next week.

Little A is now officially late. Apparently our doctor’s decided it wasn’t important to talk to one another and tell us the official due date was Monday, April 20 (not Friday, April 17). Not that three days is a big difference, but J and I are both pretty ready to see our little guy. Today’s doctor’s visit didn’t change anything. She still hasn’t dilated a bit and doctor’s don’t want to schedule an induction because of increased chances for a c-section. But, we have another appointment on Friday (hoping for something around the thickness of a fern plant) and a tentatively scheduled induction set for Monday.
The waiting continues …
Sunday began the final countdown and yes we’ve been playing Europe’s song all week before heading to bed. I can certainly speak for J and myself that we’ve finally reached that point of being tired of being pregnant. We didn’t want Little A to arrive any sooner than he needed too, but now that it’s so close … the wait is excruciating. J is in pain and just wants him out. I hate seeing her in pain and can really no longer make jokes that cheer her up (to a certain point). We’ve tried most of the old wives tales, but none have worked yet.
All I know is that very soon, and I do mean very soon, I will get the chance to do something I’ve longed to do for a while … hold my child, hold my son.
Bear with me … I’ve got all the content, just need the time to spend on updating and reuploading all the old information.
Well … Julie and I decided it was time to start trying to have a little one earlier in 2008. After a couple of months and negative tests, we finally got the result we wanted. But before we get to that point, let’s talk about the weekend before finding out.
We and some of our closest friends went up to the lake for weekend of good times and to celebrate our five-year wedding anniversary. Since Julie had just taken a test (negative) we were in the clear to party and have a good time for the weekend. Friday night the girls tie one off and much the same on Saturday. Waking up on Sunday morning at the lake with a little hangover is nothing new or out of the ordinary. But for the hangover to not subside over the course of the day was a little odd.
Monday morning Julie woke up still feeling the effects of the weekend. After going to work and talking with one of her buddies (who was also pregnant at the time) yelled, “You’re pregnant! Go home early and check!”
And that’s exactly what she did. So … did she wait until I got home to tell me? Absolutely not! She called me at approximately 4:15 p.m. while I’m still stuck in the office and screams into the phone. Conversation kinda goes like this:
Julie: “Guess who’s pregnant!?!”
Me: “Um … you?”
Me: “That’s awesome! I can’t say anything can I?”
That’s the gist of the conversation. Unfortunately I had to spend the last 45 minutes of my day completely distracted and couldn’t say a word. I’m sure there was a smile on my face that might have made the news I’d just received obvious, but I stuck to my guns and kept my mouth shut.
That was all on August 11. Mouth shut until the end of September? Are you kidding me?
I’ve started and stopped this particular blog about a hundred times. Trying to figure out exactly what I wanted this blog to be. Was it going to focus on one topic, a set of topics or just a smorgasbord of ideas that really make up me?
Well, the underlying reason for this blog was to eventually chart the process of becoming a dad for the first time, keep family members informed of everything that is happening and in the long run, become a successful dad and maybe a daddy-blogger.
So, I’ve scrubbed the site clean once again. You’ll still get some other stuff besides what is happening in our soon to be family of three (five including dogs). Be sure to check back often because there will be different stuff up here at all time. Well … now the fun really begins. Let’s hope that everything goes according to plan.
